Sue works from her shed at the bottom of her garden in
Hebden Bridge. She spends hours there, immersed in all things
clay and forgetting the outside world. Searching for the
perfect finish is a mission and an obsession - it's a bit like
alchemy.
Inspired by coastal, horticultural and Japanese influences, her
boxes are hand-built from porcelain slabs and decorated using
a variety of techniques including inlay, sgraffito, incising
and metal lustre painting. Transforming a malleable lump of
clay into a range of delicate contemporary tableware is her
passion.
