Kate Boyce was born in Staffordshire and now lives and works in Hebden Bridge. She studied Surface Pattern at Staffordshire University then spent several years designing fabric and giftware. Six years ago, motivated by her surroundings she began creating and selling mixed-media paintings on canvas. She has recently returned to surface design under the name of 'House of Chintz' and now divides her time between design and painting.
English landscape and pattern are her main inspirations. Her lampshades are inspired by the suburban landscape she grew up in. Kate's own photography and vintage floral fabric of the 70's and 80's are starting points for her designs. The lampshades are put together and completed in her studio.
